In the face of many challenges with collective efforts to making sure the fight to reach zero case is achieved in communities in Liberia, Liberia and International Volunteer Teams continue to mobilize communities to stand up together against the spread of the EVD and to collectively work through established structures for the recovery initiatives in their communities.

The welcome meeting was held at Redlight, Paynesville. Speakers from BUPOTRA outlined our work, and a speech was given by Ms Hendrickson, outlining her reasons for reaching out to BUPOTRA, and the areas she would focus on during her time volunteering for BUPOTRA. Time was then spent with Ms Hendrickson meeting various members of the BUPOTRA team. We are very grateful for everyone's attendance, it was a very joyous occasion. BUPOTRA Inc. begins capacity building of its volunteers in Local sub-offices in Liberia.
In order to create personal development increase the effectiveness of the youth volunteers that are volunteering to promote the mission and objectives of BUPOTRA Inc. a series of training is set up to further enhance the capacity and commitment of its volunteers and the local community residents who are wishing the Organization well. The long planned recognition of youth volunteers and other peace loving individuals for participating in BUPOTRA Inc initiatives to promote peace, non violence and reconciliation takes place in Monrovia and Lofa County today. This set of volunteers include participants drawn from Montserrado, Lofa, Margibi and Bomi counties at two venues (Monrovia & Voinjamah). The rest of the counties Nimba, River Cess, Bassa and Bong Counties continues till the 6th of May 2012. Your support is highly welcome to ensure the completion of these activities. BUPOTRA Inc. participated in the 2011 Electoral process in Liberia as observer organization with over 250 volunteers identified in communities in eight of Liberia's fifteen counties.
The objective to involve the youths through personal development and to prepared them for the future initiatives/challenges, most of the volunteers drawn from the counties are youths. They demonstrated the passion through the organization to join efforts to promote non violence and get involve in civic engagement. The process started from the voter's registration exercise, to the referendum elections where voters went to the pools to say yes or no to the four propositions; the first and second rounds of the General and presidential elections. The participation of the volunteers happened in these counties: Lofa, Bong, Margibi, River sess, Grand Bassa, Nimba, Montserrado and Bomi where BUPOTRA Inc. currently works with volunteer coordinators to carry out its activities. |
